THE IMPACT

Empowering 150 Women in Rural Rajasthan
ILJ's ongoing initiative since 2013 has empowered 120 women through vibrant homeware in 2013 and provided training and employment to 30 women in traditional embroidery in 2023.
One of its main goals is to provide regular employment opportunities for rural women living in the villages surrounding Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India. In 2013, ILJ collaborated with local artisans and urban designers, working with 120 women to produce innovative homeware products. These products, which included cushions, fabrics, and stonework collections, were known for their vibrant colours, intricate designs, and the embodiment of traditional techniques that have been passed down through generations in the region. The products were successful not only in India but also in the Middle East. In 2023, ILJ continued its efforts to empower women in the village of Mulana, Rajasthan, by launching an employment program that focused on traditional handicrafts of Jaisalmer, such as the exquisite embroidery of cushions with silk. This program provided training and employment opportunities for 30 women from diverse backgrounds in the region.
